"The husband who decides to surprise his wife is often very much surprised himself." This is another great saying by French philosopher Voltaire. It is a saying that is undeniably true with a tremendous amount of accuracy. That is what wives would say. Husbands would also agree, although not all of them think of surprising their wives all the time... Surprises can come in many shapes and forms: flowers, dinners, cards, regular gifts, very expensive gifts and much much more. And, because societies are built on exchange, those surprises are almost always followed by a surprise from the wife in an even stronger and more durable form. It could be more love, more care or an actual gift.
My favorite surprise is when I do not ask him for anything and he knows exactly what is missing for the house and gets it immediately. It shows that he is paying attention and that he cares about our well-being. He sometimes makes decisions on renovating things and takes my opinion before making me a surprise. The result is always a happier home.
My second favorite surprise is a weekend trip. It is always fun to take some time off and to travel to a different city and to stay in a nice hotel. Our focus is then on the family. We can speak about things that we have not shared before because we are too busy. It is also time for adventure as we usually try activities that we have not tried before: swimming in a river, climbing mountains, picking apples on a tree, etc.
My third favorite surprise is a fancy diner. It is always fun to eat out. When invited to dinner, I do not need to cook and that means that I have much less work. It is also a chance to try new places and to wind down and relax. It also gives me ideas on what new dishes to cook at home and on new ways of presenting food. This usually makes him happy as he loves trying new home cooked meals.
My fourth favorite surprise is a bouquet of flowers when I least expect it. I love receiving flowers when there is absolutely no reason to receive flowers. They add color to the living room and are a beautiful decorative element to have around the house. They are also a symbol of love and caring. I usually receive flowers with a small card attached to them in which I read a special message, which makes the bouquet even more of a surprise.

"ان الزوج الذي يُفاجئ زوجته, يُفاجأ دوماً". هذا قولٌ آخرٌ للفيلسوف الفرنسي فولتير. وهو قولٌ صحيحٌ ودقيقٌ بلاشكّ. وهذا رأي الزوجات بلاشكّ. وقد يتفق ايضاً الازواج مع فولتير بالرغم من انّهم قد ينسون مفاجأة زوجاتهم. ويمكن للمفاجأة ان تأتي باشكالٍ واحجامٍ عديدةٍ: زهور, دعوات عشاء, بطاقات تهنئة, هدايا عادية، هدايا باهظة الثمن والاكثر بكثير. ولأن المجتمعات مبنية على التبادل, تلحق مفاجآت الزوج مفاجأة اقوى واعظم من قبل الزوجة. ويمكن لهذه المفاجأة ان تأخذ شكل المزيد من الحب او المزيد من الرعاية او هدية حسّية وحقيقية
مفاجأتي المفضلة هي عندما لا أطلب منه شيءً ويقوم بجلب الاغراض التي تنقص في البيت بعد ملاحظة ما نحتاجه. فيصبح الشخص الذى يولي اهتماماً لحياتنا والذي يهتم برفاهيتنا. وفي بعض الأحيان, يأخذ قرارات بشأن تجديد الأشياء في البيت ويأخذ برأيي بشكلٍ مبطن قبل المفاجأة. والنتيجة دائماً هي منزلٌ أكثر سعادةٍ يحلو العيش فيه
مفاجأتي المفضلة الثانية هي رحلة رائعة في عطلة نهاية الأسبوع. فمن الممتع جداً ان نأخذ اجازة قصيرة و ان نسافر الى مدينة جديدة ونبقى في فندقٍ جميل. يصبح تركيزنا التام آن ذاك على اسرتنا. ويمكننا أن نتحدث عن الأشياء التي لم نتشاركها من قبل لأننا مشغولين جداً. وهو ايضاً وقتٌ للمغامرة. فنجرّب نشاطات لم نجربها من قبل: السباحة في النهر وتسلق الجبال وقطف التفاح عن الشجر، الخ
ومفاجأتي المفضلة الثالثة هي دعوة الى عشاءٍ فاخر. فتناول الطعام خارج البيت تجربة ممتعة دائماً. فلست بحاجة الى طهي الطعام نهار الدعوة مما يعني عملٌ اقلّ. والدعوة الى العشاء هي ايضاً فرصةٌ للذهاب الى اماكن جديدة والاسترخاء. ويعطيني العشاء أيضاً افكاراً حول أطباق جديدة يمكن ان اطهوها في المنزل وحول طرقٍ جديدةٍ لتقديم الطعام. وهذا عادةً ما يجعل الزوج سعيدٌ لأنه يحب التجديد في وجبات الطبخ في البيت
ومفاجأتي المفضلة الرابعة هي باقة من الزهور عندما لا اتوقعها منه. أحب استلام الزهور عندما لا يكون هناك ايِّ سببٍ لتلقي الزهور. فهي تضفي اللون على البيت وتزيّن المنزل وهي أيضاً رمزٌ للحب والاهتمام. وعادةً اتلقى مع الزهور بطاقة صغيرة عليها رسالة جميلة، مما يجعلها مفاجأة اعظم واهم
